Cupcake #277 **sold**

Cupcake #277 is topped with a thick swirl of cream cheese icing and a flash of chocolate drizzle. The cake itself is chocolate, sitting in a simple paper cup. The background is deep brick red, changing to a burgundy in the shadow. Warm autumn colors, yum!
The daily cupcake is going to have to take a bit of a break, as we are going on a quick art tour. We're heading to New York City this week, as Kathrine will be in the Gracie Square Art Show on the upper east side of Manhattan on October 2nd and 3rd. Then up to Cape Cod, where Scott will be doing a gallery talk about his Mediterranean Boat Series at the Calhoon Museum of American Art in Cotuit on Tuesday Oct 5th. If you are in the area his show is up until October 30th. Then we may or may not be continuing our stay in Greenwich, Connecticut. Kathrine is on the waiting list for the Bruce Museum show the following weekend, we are just waiting for a phone call to let us know if she's in. So long story short, we don't really know when we'll be back, so keep checking in. We'll post along the way to keep you all in the loop! If you use Facebook, you can follow our progress through Scott's Cupcakes page, so when you find it, like it! And we'll be in touch

Today's red, white, and blue cupcake is sitting on a soft buttery yellow background. The vanilla cupcake is topped with a circle of blueberries wrapped around a single strawberry, you just know it's going to be good!

Pink and purple! When asked my favorite color as a child, I can remember that was the answer, spoken with total conviction. Magenta stars top this yummy chocolate cupcake, and reverse "stars" dot the background. A sweet surprise for the "superstar" in your life.

Cupcake #274 **sold*

Rooty tooty fresh 'n...you know the rest! Cherries, blueberries, and a slice of mandarin orange sit in a nest of creamy white icing. Surrounded by a peachy background, this is just a bit of cupcake heaven. Remember you can see Scott's cupcakes in person this Saturday in Atlanta. Send me an email if you'd like to attend the show, and I'll send you the details!

Cupcake #273 **sold**

A delightful little cupcake, sliced and layered with cream and topped with a fresh strawberry. Since the strawberry itself is a soft neutral variation of red, the background is a soft neutral variation of the complementary color of red, being green. The cup itself transitions from a warm pale almost peach on one side to a deep blackberry on the shadow side. Simply beautiful, enjoy!

Cupcake #272 **sold**

A sweet blueberry cupcake. The frosting on this cupcake is right at the brink of purple. So close to pink, but the slightest bit of blue in it brings it back to the purple or violet end of the spectrum. Green, blue and purple all sit next to each other on the color wheel, but in this case the green is so close to yellow, and the purple so close to pink, that they hardly seem to be related at all. But together, they sing. This one won't match your sofa, but be the brave collector, if it makes you smile!

#271 is the perfect combination, chocolate and black cherry. Topped with a scattering of chocolate chips, and surrounded by a milk chocolate background, it is just waiting for someone to take a bite! Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Scott! Scott began The Daily Cupcake the day after his 70th birthday, and one year later we have 270 cupcakes and counting. In celebration of this day we are posting the cupcake early and moving on to great birthday things. Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

Cupcake #269 **sold**

This cupcake is so blue you can practically hear B.B. King in the background. The chocolate brown/turquoise combo is a favorite of mine and the robin egg blue just makes it sing. Enjoy this little bit of blue, and we'll be back tomorrow.

Cupcake #268 **sold**

Today's cupcake, I've been told, is a chocolate mocha swirl, topped with raspberries. You can see the marbling in the icing, yum! The background is a polka dotted spring green, or pea soup...depending on your fondness for this particular hue.
You can see this cupcake and all the other available cupcakes at a little garden party we will be having in Atlanta on Saturday September 25th. Send me an email, and I'll reply with all the information if you live in "our neck of the woods!" Have a great day!

Cupcake #267 **sold**

Hmmm, let's call this the banana butterfly! A shortbread cookie cut in half is perched in the middle of a layer of banana pudding. Under that is vanilla frosting, and a banana bread cupcake. Yummy and beautiful, who could ask for more!? The combination of rose and soft yellow is somehow almost glamorous, did you notice the pink reflecting off the cookie? Now who do you know that needs a sweet surprise?

Cupcake #266 **sold**

The only thing better than a cupcake is a stuffed cupcake! Filled with strawberries and cream and dusted with sugar, this one is a beauty. The pale pink background mirrors the pink highlights in the strawberries. And this one would pair well with yesterday's raspberries on charcoal grey. Perfect for the girlie girl in your life!

Cupcake #265 **sold**

Oh, what a lovely thing, the raspberry compote cupcake. Topped with a pouf of meringue this made my mouth water just watching Scott bring it down the studio stairs! The slate gray background playing off the deep burgundy colors in the raspberry topping makes for a beautiful sophisticated palette.
Now we have an announcement! This being cupcake #265, means there are only 100 cupcakes left to go in this series. Scott's goal was for one year of cupcakes, that would be 365. So if I have my math right, that leaves 100 cupcakes starting tomorrow. We will speed them up a little around Christmas, but the last cupcake will go up on New Years Eve. Don't let them all pass you by!

Cupcake #264 **sold**

Today's cupcake looks like a big happy sunflower. The center is made of little chocolate covered somethings, raisins, perhaps sunflower seeds? A little fancy icing piped around the edges and you have this beautiful thing! Autumn colors take the stage, with yellows and pumpkin. I don't know if this will inspire you to work in the garden, or bake in the kitchen, but have a great weekend!

Cupcake #263 **sold**

A cupcake for your favorite sleepyhead! A moon and stars top this vanilla cupcake , hopefully bringing sweet dreams to all. Two of the primaries, yellow and blue, are the dominant colors in this piece, even the cake itself is simply a neutral version of yellow. Perfect for a nursery, a conversation piece, or a gift for the star in your life. Goodnight cupcake!

Cupcake #262 **sold**

This cupcake definitely falls into the "grown up" category, simple vanilla, topped with a swirl of almost Wedgwood blue icing. The background is one of those soft neutral colors that is difficult to describe. Is it sand, bone, antique white, or putty perhaps? In any case, this dignified little painting would add a little fun to the most elegant dining room! Cheers!

Cupcake #261

You can tell fall is in the air, even the cupcakes seem to be changing colors! Creamy butterscotch icing tops this sweet chocolate number. You can see the deep orange background reflected back in the frosting. It will be interesting to see if the change of seasons brings about more gold, pumpkin, and deep burgundy to Scott's palette. Stay tuned!

Cupcake #260

Today's chocolate cupcake is dotted with white chocolate sprinkles, and surrounded by a mossy green background. Brown, even chocolate brown, is one of those neutral colors that can be made by mixing two complementary colors. Red and green, orange and blue, and purple and yellow all will make a variation of brown. Practice is the trick to get the brown you are looking for, and not just mud. Paint away!

In celebration of the beginning of football season Scott presents this cupcake! A vanilla cupcake with green icing (mint, pistachio?) rolled in green coconut, and topped with a miniature football. Scott said he is willing to do these on a commission basis of your favorite team. Just let us know. In the meantime this red background should please both the local boys, The Jackson Red Devils, and University of Georgia fans! Enjoy the game! Oh and looks like we may be taking Labor Day off, so we'll see you on Tuesday!

Cupcake #258 **sold**

Purple and teal has long been a favorite color combination of mine. Teal is really a blue that leans towards the green side of the spectrum, like aqua and turquoise. And this purple is really beautiful, you can see how it goes back and forth from blue to almost pink in the swirls of icing, showing off all that purple can be. Topped of course with two fabulous blackberries, can't you just taste it?

Cupcake #257 **sold**

This bubblegum cupcake had flecks of color all the way through, and all the colors of the rainbow sprinkled on top, except for one. Do you know which is missing? Topped with a bright red gumball this is sure to take the edge off of any bad day. The background is a neutral taupe color to let all the little bits of color shine. Enjoy!

Cupcake #256 **sold**

Here's a new one for the fruit fans! Blueberries and a raspberry top this simple vanilla cupcake. The background is a bright spring green. This piece would play nicely with others with taupe backgrounds, or even tangerine!
